Excipients: each lozenge also contains 968.5mg glucose, 1437.9mg sucrose, 0.162mg sunset yellow FCF (E110) and 0.016mg Ponceau 4R (E124).

3. PHARMACEUTICAL FORM

Lozenge

An orange flavoured and coloured circular lozenge. Embossed on both sides with strepsils brand icon.

4. CLINICAL PARTICULARS

4.1 Therapeutic indications

For the symptomatic relief of mouth and throat infection.

4.2 Posology and method of administration

Adults and Children: One lozenge to be dissolved slowly in the mouth every 2-3 hours. There is no need for dosage reduction in the elderly. For oral administration.

Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.

4.4 Special warnings and precautions for use

Keep all medicines out of reach of children.

Consult your doctor if symptoms persist or if anything unusual happens.

Patients with rare hereditary problems of fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption or sucrase-isomaltase insufficiency should not take this medicine.

The colours Sunset yellow FCF and Ponceau 4R may cause allergic reactions.

5.1 Pharmacodynamic properties

2, 4-Dichlorobenzyl alcohol and amylmetacresol have antiseptic properties. Ascorbic acid and sodium ascorbate provide a source of Vitamin C, which may be beneficial during infection when Vitamin C levels are believed to fall.

A blister push-through tray consisting of PVC/PVDC laminate heat-sealed to aluminium foil. Each blister tray contains 12 lozenges. Two trays are packed in a carton providing a pack size of 24 lozenges.
